Troubleshooting Speakers
Speakers not turning on
- To make sure the speaker system is working, locate the power cable connecting to the speaker system and follow it back to the socket, ensure the plug is plugged into the socket and the socket is turned on.
- Next check the speaker system is on, there is usually a power button to press to turn it on or it will be turning the volume up which turns the speakers on, there should be a light that shows when the speakers are on, if there is no light, this could be a power plug issue, if this is the case, please contact IT
Speakers not playing sound
- Insert the audio cable into the laptop and try to play audio, if no audio plays try to change the sound option on the laptop to see if audio starts playing, this can be done by going to the bottom right of the taskbar and clicking on the speaker icon, select the correct audio option and try again.
- If this doesnt not work, if able, try to use a different device to test the speakers like a phone or MP3 device, if audio is still not playing, please contact IT
Speakers play on other devices but not laptop
- If the speakers play on different devices but not the laptop, there could be a bigger issue with the laptop, firstly with the cable in, try to move the cable a little in the laptop to see if the audio starts coming through, if it does then it issue is the pins inside of the audio port on the laptop are not connecting correctly, please give to IT to see if they can resolve.
- If the audio does not come through, take the cable out of the laptop and look into the audio port on the laptop to see if there is anything stuck in there, if so please give to IT so they can remove the blockage
- If not audio is heard when moving the cable in the port and the port is clear of any blockages, inform IT so they can provide the correct course of action to resolve the issue.
